This was a tough match for the Blacks who did not seal the victory until they scored a try in the final five minutes.

After a delayed start, Strathmore were held up in traffic on the way to the game, Berwick made the initial breakthrough when Rory Hindhaugh touched down to give the home side a 5-0 lead after only seven minutes.

Jack Webster missed the conversion attempt, but he kicked a penalty as the Blacks opened up an 8-0 lead.

carded, and with Strathmore applying the pressure they got themselves back into the match with a score under the posts. The conversion was surprisingly missed, but the score was back to 8-5.

The visitors then made their extra man count and a second unconverted try saw them go 8-10 in front, a lead they managed to hold onto until half time.

Early in the second half, Berwick suffered the setback of a second yellow card when Ryan Wilson was sin-binned.

Midway through the half Webster kicked a penalty which saw Berwick back in front at 11-10, and with 14 minutes to go he kicked another as the Scremerston side went 14-10 up.

The next score was vital for both sides, but it was Berwick who bagged it with veteran Gareth Hill getting the touchdown after good work by Hindhaugh and Webster. Webster added the conversion for 21-10.
