Remarkably, it was the 13th time Reed,m a farmer from Ancroft, had liftwed the title.

On this occasion he was a member of Team Woolston, skipped by Andrew Woolston.

There were four men’s team competing on a double round-robin basis. Team Wiilston won their first three matches, lost the next two, but won their final group match to qualify for the final, which they also won.

Afterwards, Reed said: “It was a very bumpy ride to win the English National Championships. We had to win our last group match and a hard-fought final, but we did it.”
