Learmonth wins third indoor title
Berwick athlete Guy Learmonth raced to his third British indoor 800m title when he won the final at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow on Sunday.
The 27 year-old ran a new personal best of 1:46:89 to beat Andrew Osagie into second place in 1:46:98 with Piers Copeland also posting a new PB in third in 1:47:21.
There was an element of danger for Learmonth in the race as one of his fellow finalists, Alex Botterill, fell in front of him with just over 300m to go and he had to leapfrog over him to avoid a collision.
“I really thought I was going to go down,” said Learmonth. “But I managed to stay on my feet and bring home the bacon so it’s a great feeling.”
