Flying start for Gary
Gary Anderson, the ‘Flying Scotsman,’ got his World Darts Championship off to a winning start when he beat Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan 3-0 in the second round at the Alexandra Palace in London on Monday night.
The two-times champion, who lifted the title in 2015 and 2016, hit seven 180’s and had a three dart average of 93.77, dropping only one leg as he cruised through 3-0, 3-1, 3-0.
The former Berwick league player, who is currently ranked world number five, now has a week off as his third round tie is not scheduled until next Monday (December 23).
After his win over Dolan, Anderson said: “I’m pleased to get the first match out of the way, but I know I am not at my best.”
