’Sunderland, Alnwick and Alnmouth win in cup
As Newbiggin marched on at the top of the North Northumberland League at the weekend, there were Robson Cup wins for North Sunderland, Alnwick Town Development and Alnmouth United.
A closely contested first half saw Newbiggin net twice with Richard Stanwix scoring for the visitors .
It was much the same after half time but Newbiggin took the points as they added another three before the final whistle. Stephen Lucas netted a hat trick with further goals from Mathew Nelson and Kevin Halliday.

There was not much between the sides during the first half of this league game with Michael Carr and Jordan Anderson netting for their respective sides.
In the second half Louis Carr netted a second for Bedlington but Masons ensured the win with a second for Michael Carr plus further strikes by Niall Black and Joe Flannighan.

The first half was evenly balanced until a Stephen Shendon goal on 40 minutes gave Alnmouth the advantage at the break.
The second half was again close with Ashington equalising through Ross Adams on 67 minutes. But on 85 minutes Alnmouth regained the advantage as Liam Jefferson netted from the penalty spot and made sure of the win with a 90th minute goal from Marco Macenley.

In the opening 30 minutes sloppy play saw Wooler concede three times with Alnwick holding the advantage at half time.
An improved second half display saw the Glendale side net twice to pull it back to 2-3.
A penalty miss was followed by an equaliser, again from the spot, taking the game into extra-time.
Alnwick made the most of extra time to score two more and progress into the next round.
Goalscorers for Wooler were James Spencer (2) and Jack Strangeways while the Alnwick goalscorers were Dylan Handiside, Cameron Thorpe, Thomas Forster, Stephen Hutchins and Paul Muers.
North Sunderland 5
Lowick United 1
A young Lowick team played well throughout this match but the home side’s experience proved too much at the end of 90 minutes.
Three down at half time, Lowick pulled a goal back through Ross Morton, but the home side added another two before the final whistle to progress to the nest round.
Ryan Thompson bagged a hat-trick with Andrew Baillie and Chris Gardner also on target for the Seahouses side.
