Perfect dozen for NS in the Northern Alliance

North Sunderland made it the round dozen when they romped to a 12-0 home win over bottom of the table Morpeth Town Reserves in the Northern Alliance Development Division on a Saturday.

The Seahouses side were in dominant form throughout, scoring six goals in each half, with the first goal coming with just three minutes on the clock.

Originally this was a game which was scheduled to be played at Morpeth, but because of the condition of their pitch, it was decided on Saturday morning to switch the venue to Seafield Park.

Adam Weightman and Kevin Elliott led the way on the goal scoring front, each netting four for the home side.

Jack Convery and Jordan Turnbull also each bagged two to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

North Sunderland currently sit fourth in the table with 25 points from 11 games, whilst Morpeth remain second from bottom with only one point to their credit.

On Saturday, the Seahouses side play their final game before the festive break with a home match against Whitley Bay Sporting Club A.

Also in the Development Division, Lowick drew 1-1 away to Swalwell, giving them their second successive point.

The draw keeps t(em in 13th place in the league with eight points from 13 games.

On Saturday they are home to Morpeth FC, who currently sit third in the table.

Wooler were in action in the Gardner Cup, and they travelled to Whitburn & Cleadon, where they went down to a 7-0 defeat.

The Glendale side were outplayed in the first half and at the break they found themselves 5-0 down. They faired better after the break and a plus point for the side was that some players who had been unable to get a run-out because of the recent bad weather we’re able to get some minutes under their belts. Wooler, who are ninth in the table with 15 points, are away to Wideopen A this weekend.

In Division 2, Spittal Rovers were due to take on Gateshead Redheugh at home, but their pitch at Newfields was waterlogged and was postponed on Saturday morning.

This weekend, the Berwick side, who are 11th in the table with 11 points, are home to Newcastle Blue Star Reserves.
