Harrow have the edge on Colts in Berwick derby
It was a good weekend for Berwick sides in the Border Amateur League with wins for Tweedmouth Harrow, Tweedmouth Amateurs and Highfields.
The Harrow beat local rivals Berwick Colts, coming from 2-1 down at half-time to win 5-2 in the B League.
Martin Tait gave the Harrow the lead in the game, which was played at the Billendean, but two close range finishes from Kyle Murray saw the Colts take a 2-1 lead into the break.
In the second half Mark Anderson netted twice and there were also goals from Cameron Beasley and Sean Simpson as the Harrow turned things around.
Late in the game Berwick Colts had a player sent off from the sidelines by the referee.
Tweedmouth Amateurs ran out 5-1 winners at home to Biggar in the B League, but they had to do it the hard way, playing most of the game with only ten men after goalkeeper Stuart Black was red carded after 20 minutes for a challenge outside the box.
Outfield player Kyle Wood replaced him between the sticks and the Amie’s managed to recover to lead 2-1 at the break.
In the second half they were more composed and they managed to net another three to run out comfortable winners.
Goalscorers for the Ammies were Aidan Lauder, Jeff Collin, Michael Antcliffe, Aaron Hope and Shane McGregor.
Highfields were at home to Tweeddsle Rovers Colts in the C Division and they managed to take the points with a hard-earned 4-3 victory.
United took the lead after only three minutes with a penalty, awarded for a hand ball in the box when the ball bounced up and struck a player, but with the wind at their backs, and looking threatening on the break, Tweeddslde hit back to lead 2-1 at half-time.
In the second half Highfields used the elements to their advantage and managed to turn it around, bagging three goals to win 4-3.
Goalscorers for the Berwick side were Wedderburn and Lowe, who each scored two.
