Blow as Craster/Embleton folds
There was another blow for local football last week when it was confirmed another club had folded.
Embleton & Craster, who were originally two separate clubs, had joined forces to play in the old North Northumberland League. When the NNL, due to depleting numbers, was almost lost during the summer, they decided to switch to the Newcastle-based Combination League.
But last week, just a few weeks into the start of the new season, the club issued a statement in which they said:
“We have made the sad decision to leave the league and fold the team. A number of reasons, not just one, have made the situation impossible for the team to continue.”
