After squandering a couple off early chances it was Berwick who opened the scoring when Horsburgh beat his marker on the right and scored a good goal from a tight angle.

The home forwards were causing a few problems for the Berwick defence, but once again found Hall in goal in good form.

Berwick doubled their lead midway through the half when Grey headed in a good corner from Lambert.

Montagu then pulled a goal back before Lambert restored the two-goal advantage with a good strike before a Montagu defender headed past his own keeper when the ball was swung in from the right.

Montagu scored the next goal as Berwick failed to clear their lines.

Lambert broke through to grab Berwick’s fifth, but still the home team struck back to make the score 5-3 with 15 minutes still on the clock.

But Grey made sure of getting all three points when volleying home from eight yards to seal a deserved win.
