Alliance playing on
Despite the Coronavirus outbreak hitting the majority of football, the Northern Alliance League decided to play on at the weekend.
But now, all games under the League’s jurisdiction have been suspended.
All ‘elite’ professional games have been postponed by the FA until April 3, when the situation will be reviewed.
The Alliance issued a statement on Friday saying games would continue at the weekend, although teams had the option of withdrawing if they so desired.
Local sides Spittal Rovers, North Sunderland and Wooler all played (see match reports on page 47) – but on Monday, following government updates, the decision was taken to stop play..
