Youth theatre to take stage by storm

Bringing back some old friends, and the team that brought Hairspray and Here Come the Girls, the Maltings Youth Theatre is set for another fantastic production.

They will be high-kicking into Germany with the outrageous and hilarious musical The Producers for a three-night run in May.

You will find yourself holding your sides with laughter as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom (theatrical producers) sing and dance their way through the greatest showbiz scam ever.

Rehearsals are well under way with fantastic musical numbers and glorious costumes.

The Producers is adapted from Mel Brooks’ 1968 film of the same name.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

It ran for more than 2,500 performances on Broadway, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, then was in London for just over two years, it has toured the world, and was re-made as a hit movie in 2005 starring Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick and Uma Thurman.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd on behalf of Music Theatre International Of New York.

The show takes place at The Maltings from Thursday, May 5, to Saturday, May 7, at 7.30pm each day.
