The songstress stopped by the store on Marygate with a friend ahead of a performance at the Hemelvaart Bier Café in Ayton.

Emily has been busy since her appearance on 2016’s X Factor, and shared her first single with fans in the autumn.

Craig Bell, director of Specsavers in Berwick, said: “We were delighted to welcome Emily to the store.

“She was accompanying a friend who was having an eye test in store and made time to speak to staff and customers. She’s welcome back any time!”

The 18-year-old from Glasgow has been performing since the age of 10.

At 13, she reached the Scottish and Northern England Open Mic final and also won Teenstar 2014.

At 18, she made it to the semi-final of the 2016 X Factor, finishing fourth.

Emily was instantly recognised by Simon Cowell when she auditioned for The X Factor last year in Glasgow – because she had already made it to the judges’ houses stage of the show in 2014. She immediately won over the judges with her performance of Master Blaster by Stevie Wonder. She made it through to the semi-finals but lost the sing-off to Matt Terry, who went on to be crowned winner.
