The photo was taken at sunset at the Machrie standing stones when he saw lambs running and leaping from the rock.

Alan, who lives in Chirnside, said: “I am very happy that the judges liked and picked my photo. To be in the top 24 photo out of 40,000 entries, I feel very privileged.”

He added: “I watched Countryfile and saw the 12 winning photos for the Children in Need calendar and thought that was it. A week later I received a phone call informing me that my photo of the lambs were runner-up to the month of April and would be included in the calendar.”
