Woman breaks her ankle in fall at Marshall Meadows
A Berwick woman suffered a broken ankle when she fell down a four foot hole in the grounds of Marshall Meadows Hotel on Saturday afternoon.
Lizzie Middlemiss, who runs Deyn’s Deli cafe on Castlegate, was taken by ambulance to The Northumbria Hospital in Cramlington where a steel plate was inserted in her foot.
She said: “I was visiting Marshall Meadows by arrangement to view their walled garden and I fell down a hole in the land next to the walled garden. It took nearly a hour for the ambulance to come by which time I was really stressed and about to pass out. It couldn’t have come at a worse time when I am really busy at work.”
