Woman arrested following rail bridge incident
A 24-year-old woman was arrested following an incident on the Royal Border Bridge in Berwick on Sunday afternoon.
She was charged with railway obstruction following an assessment.
The incident caused severe delays in both directions for train services on the east coast main line.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “We were called to the Royal Border Bridge in Berwick around 2pm following reports of a person on the bridge.
“Colleagues from Northumbria Police also attended and a 24-year-old local woman was safely removed from the bridge shortly after 4pm. Following an assessment she was arrested and has since been charged with railway obstruction.”
