We're here to support you

I am writing following the excellent letter from Helen Williams, of the Alzheimer's Society, in which she highlights the splendid work that the society does in fund-raising and promoting awareness of dementia (Berwick Advertiser, January 11).

I was particularly interested in the projected figure of 5,000 dementia sufferers in Northumberland.

It seems an appropriate moment to remind your readers that Berwick and District Friends of Dementia continues to provide support for those suffering from mild to moderate dementia in and around Berwick.

This is done primarily through Alz Cafe, our regularly Thursday drop-in, at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall in Walkergate, meeting from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

I would like to encourage dementia sufferers and their carers who feel they might benefit from joining us to get in touch, either by email to alzcafebwk@gmail.com or simply call in and see us any Thursday morning.
