Cllr Isabel Hunter, member for Berwick West with Ord on Northumberland County Council, said: “I would like to congratulate Thomas Turner & Sons for the work they have undertaken on the East Ord war memorial is first class and shows the workmanship of the company.

“The company is an asset to both the parish and surrounding area, it is a shining example of what local tradesmen can do if given the opportunity.”

The Grade II listed memorial, which stands on the village green, was erected in 1922, commemorating three local servicemen who died in the First World War. Following the Second World War, the details of eight men who fell in that conflict were added.
