Volunteer aims to raise much-needed income for charity
HospiceCare North Northumberland has appointed a dedicated community fund-raiser for Berwick.
Local resident Jackie Kaines Lang joined the HospiceCare fund-raising team this week after previously volunteering in their Berwick charity shop, Wear & Care.
Jackie is a writer and serial volunteer who moved north to Berwick from North London eight years ago. She has also been supporting the campaign group, A Better Hospital for Berwick.
She said: “I can’t wait to work with volunteers, community groups, individuals and local businesses to raise much needed funds for our local HospiceCare charity.
“From Hospice at Home, to end-of-life care and from drop-ins to bereavement support, our wonderful local nurse-led hospice provides care and support to adults with life-limiting conditions at any stage of their illness – and supports their families and carers too.”
You’ll find Jackie in Berwick working out of the fund-raising office above HospiceCare’s Wear & Care shop on Violet Terrace. Whether you want to volunteer, make a donation, have a fund-raising idea or just want to say hello, pop in for a coffee, she’slove to meet you.
David Atkinson, operations manager for HospiceCare, said “It’s great to have Jackie on board.
“With her wealth of local knowledge, she will be a valuable addition to the hospice team.”
