Northumberland Community Voluntary Action supports groups to operate safely and legally, and to find funding so that they can continue to provide much needed services within their own communities.

Now the team at Northumberland CVA is celebrating achieving its third National Quality Award in a row. Following external audit and moderation by an external assessor, the organisation received its Quality Award after achieving excellence across the whole performance standards.

Anne Lyall, chief executive, said: “Our achievement of the NAVCA Quality Award for the third time is a welcome recognition of our hard work in expanding the delivery of our core services to work with voluntary and community groups across the whole of Northumberland over the last two years.

“The award is a rigorous examination of the delivery of local infrastructure services. It demands excellence across all four performance standards, covering the 17 outcomes required for initial certification as well as the five areas of baseline activity.”

This award comes at the same time as Northumberland CVA received notification that Northumberland County Council has re-commissioned its services to deliver support to voluntary and community groups.

A spokesperson for Northumberland County Council said: “Northumberland Community Voluntary Action has performed well against the council’s monitoring criteria, making significant progress to a countywide service.

“NCVA have also gathered momentum around the Northumberland VCS Assembly, increasing membership and putting in place elected governance structures. As a result we are proposing to extend the contract for another two years.”
