Beyond The End Of The Road, by Laura Lindow and Katie Doherty, features stories and songs woven together through ideas from the communities it is touring.

The November Club creative team behind the show travelled the county collecting tales from villagers and recruiting them to perform in the show.

It comes to Kirknewton Village Hall tomorrow (Friday), at 7.30pm, where the professional cast of 10 actors and musicians will be joined by members of Glendale Voices and Silver Singers from Wooler.

In addition local residents will take on some of the roles, including Phoebe Green, who will play 12-year-old Molly.

Dorothy Sharpe, who has made a border tart for the interval, said: “It has been fascinating for the community to be involved in the development of a play from the very beginning.”

The show moves to Norham Village Hall on Sunday, at 7pm, where singers from Berwick’s Golden Squares Choir will perform, along with residents Ed and Janet Young Lazda, and a tray bake decorated with a salmon will be served.

Tickets for Kirknewton cost from £4 to £8, on 01890 850285. For Norham they are £4 to £7.50, on 01289 382326.
