As the next wave of filming begins, Parkdean Resorts – which has five holiday parks along the North East coastline, as well as Eyemouth in Berwickshire – has identified five settings which have provided the famous backdrops to many past scenes.

They include the Farne Islands, featured in series seven when DCI Stanhope investigated the death of a wildlife ranger on a remote island at a bird sanctuary.

Elsewhere, Craster is home to the hidden cove of Rumbling Kern which was a key location for the dramatic events which unfolded in series seven.
