A Grant Wilson hat-trick was the difference between the teams as Tweeddale Rovers went through to the quarter finals of the Beveridge Cup. Once again, the Amateurs played their part in a tight contest, creating several chances, but were punished for mistakes by clinical finishing.

After Thompson rounded the keeper and saw his shot come back off a post, the home team took the lead with Wilson placing a free kick perfectly in the top corner.

Despite the setback, the Amateurs went close on several occasions, Robertson, Clark, Phillips, Heugh and Simpson all creating chances.

They were to pay again when Wilson added his second, shooting home from the edge of the box after a quick counter attack.

The two goal advantage did not last long, however, a long throw from Cumming was flicked on by Tait and Matty Clark shot home at the back post.

Tweedmouth then went in search of an equaliser, but the final goal of the game, was to go to the home team. Wilson was brought down in the box and stepped up to complete his hat-trick with the resultant penalty.

On Saturday Tweedmouth faces Langholm Legion at home in the quarter finals of the Waddell Cup with a 2pm kick off at the Five Arches.
