Tweed 1000 promoted at schools
The last in a series of school visits promoting the Tweed 1000 project was made at Longridge Towers recently.
Steering group member Lydia Lee described how Berwick has accumulated quite a fair bit of history over 1,000 years since the Battle of Carham: from changing hands between England and Scotland and being at war with Russia to its links with famous people such as Jimmy Strength, LS Lowry and Henry Travers. Then there are the iconic features like the walls, bridges and swans.
There is so much that it was quite a daunting task to narrow it down to fit on a 3mx2m tapestry.
