A torchlight procession was held in Belford to bring in the New Year.

There was a healthy turn-out of villagers and visitors who took part in the torchlight procession, which went from Sunnyhills and up the main street to the Market Square.

The procession was led by a pipe band. Those taking part, and those who were watching, did not let the wet weather dampen their enthusiasm.

Once they reached the Market Square, there was a traditional countdown, and at midnight there was a spectacular firework display, which lasted between 12 and 14 minutes.

Earlier in the festive period, Belford staged a successful Christmas fair and pantomime, which were held in the Ferguson Hall, while a children’s Christmas party was held in the village hall (Skinner’s Arms).
