Theatre's stellar line-up of comedy, dance, music and more
The Maltings' extensive and eclectic season starts with the return of Spittal Variety Group for its annual pantomime.
Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood will run from Tuesday until January 21.
Then a stellar line-up of musicians performs in The Transports – A Tale Of Exile And Migration on Tuesday, January 23, after a sell-out in 2017. It tells the musical tale of a family destroyed by poverty and crime, but resurrected by exile to the new colony in Australia.
There will be a unique celebration of Burns Night with IDEOMS Theatre’s production of Not Another Burns Supper on Friday, January 26, comprising a traditional supper, music, drama, poetry, songs and general daftness.
And ending the month on a high, Pink Floyd tribute act Dark Side of the Moor returns to Berwick after headlining the Beer Festival in 2015 on Saturday, January 27.
The Maltings’ strong offering of comedy continues on Thursday, February 1 with the Griff Rhys Jones: Where Was I? tour as he tells stories and anecdotes of 40 years of travelling.
Navi performs all the hits of Michael Jackson, including Smooth Criminal, Beat It and Billie Jean, in The King of Pop on Saturday, February 3.
Local comedians the Damp Knights perform a new rib-tickling night of improv comedy after their fifth sell-out show last year. Damp Knight Improv: The Da Vinci Toad is on Friday and Saturday, February 16 and 17.
Berwick Festival Opera’s first performance of 2018 comes in the Stage Door Bar for a fully immersive production of Donizetti’s Rita on Friday and Saturday, February 23 and 24.
And start spring by digging out your retro fashions and have a blast at The Maltings as Europe’s official 1980s multi-tribute concert 80s Mania recreates the hits of 25 chart-toppers such as Duran Duran, Madonna, Wham!, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bananarama and Madness on Friday, March 3.
The comedy is back with musical satirist Mitch Benn on Saturday, March 10, and Mock the Week’s Andy Parsons: Peak Bullsh*t tour on Thursday, March 22.
Townsend Theatre returns with a new play written by Neil Gore, We Are The Lions Mr Manager, on Friday, March 30.
