Teams qualify for NNL Cup semi-finals
It was quarter-final day in the Anderson Cup on Saturday and there were wins for Newbiggin, Wooler and Alnwick Town Development, who all progressed to the semi-finals.
The game between Ashington Town and Craster/Embleton was postponed.
Meanwhile, in the sole league game there was a big 14-0 win for North Sunderland.
Lowick United 0
A single goal in Wooler’s favour separated the teams at half-time but Wooler made the most of their chances after the break to seal the win.
Goals from Josh Hall , Thomas Alla, Luke Strangeways plus an own-goal made up the Wooler total.
Alnmouth United 1
Newbiggin got off to a great start, scoring straight from kick-off and they added two further goals before Ashley Lalley pulled a goal back for Alnmouth before half-time.
In the second half, Newbiggin continued to press and added another seven goals before the final whistle.
Stephen Lucas netted five, Kevin Halliday and Ross Muter both scored twice with Lee Messenger also on the scoresheet.
Alnwick Town dev 3
Amble St Cuthbert 1
This game was switched to Amble and they made the most of their chance as a Mark Ellis goal saw St Cuthbert ahead at half-time.
The second half was fairly even until a 75th minute penalty by Paul Muers gave Alnwick the equaliser and, in the final minutes, Muers scored his second and Jordan Turnbull added a third with the last kick of the match.
North Sunderland 14
Bedlington Seniors A 0
Although Bedlington never gave up, the home side were too strong throughout as they recorded a comfortable victory that keeps them in touch at the top of the table.
Six goals ahead at half-time the goals continued to flow regularly during the second half .
Goalscorers for the Seahouses side were Ryan Thompson, with five, Tom Vickers, four, Adam Weightman, two, plus single strikes from Kevin Elliott, Fraser Tait and Danny Lillico making up the final total .
