Pupils in the Design Technology department at Longridge Towers School, have been very busy during the past month, designing and making a pole to hang the Berwick Tapestry.

The pole is made from laminated oak and, whilst it looked quite attractive and was structurally sound, pupils felt that it was a bit boring so held a competition to design the finials. All Form 1 pupils took part and they came up with a wide variety of interesting designs. After careful consideration, Liv ’s salmon design was chosen. The salmon was cut from a plank of oak and shaped with a router. The salmon details were emphasised through the process of pyrography. The tapestry will be unveiled on Monday, March 25 at the Berwick Visitor Centre on Walkergate.
