Learn about the music of Felix Mendelssohn in the next talk of the series by Berwick Educational Association.
The talk, which takes place on Monday, December 10, will see participants discuss the background and context to a piece of music, review the work itself, with musical examples, and then listen.
It will focus on Mendelssohn’s Elijah, which will be performed by Berwick Arts Choir in January. It runs from 10am to noon in the William Elder Building, Castlegate.
On Friday, December 7, prior to the talk, a study morning led by Dr Richard Moore will be devoted to one book which has the power to move and involve while providing an important sociological document War & Turpentine tells the story of Urbain Martien, born in 1891 to a poor, working-class family in Ghent and inheriting the passion for painting from a father who painted church murals and died of tuberculosis in his early 40s.
