Supermarket chooses hospice as its annual charity of year
HospiceCare North Northumberland has been chosen again as Sainsbury's Alnwick's Charity of the Year.
The charity was previously selected in 2015, raising more than £10,000 from various in-store fund-raising activities.
Emma Arthur, from HospiceCare, said “This is a fantastic opportunity to do some fantastic local fund-raising for our clinical services.
“Being given a Charity of the Year status not only presents the hospice with an opportunity to raise much-needed funds, but also to raise the profile of our clinical services to a wider audience. We have met the Sainsbury’s Good Place to Work Team to discuss ideas for fund-raising over the coming months.”
As part of the fund-raising efforts, the shop is running a mega raffle. Tickets, £2 each, are available to buy in-store and the draw will take place on Saturday.
HospiceCare volunteers will bag-pack this weekend and the Westfield Brass Quintet will perform on Sunday.
