Strong exam showing at Berwick Academy
Berwick Academy students are celebrating an excellent set of A-Level results.
Students scored particularly well in academic subjects, with mathematics, English literature and business studies being the top achieving subjects.
A superb 98 per cent of students achieved a place at their first or second choice university, with many students gaining entry to highly competitive courses.
Head of Sixth Form, Sarah Flanagan said: “Our A-Level results remain very strong, with high achievement across a range of demanding academic subjects. Our broad curriculum offer means that our creative students have also achieved outstanding results again, with many students achieving all available marks in performing arts and music.
“Berwick Academy was selected as a national pilot school for the new Careers Guidance Framework and the subsequent investment we were able to make in strengthening careers advice and support, has led to excellent outcomes for our students.
“Students’ hard work, dedication and ambition has led them to a wider range of universities, competitive degree courses and top apprenticeship schemes than ever before. We are hugely proud of them.”
Among the top achievers were Casey Walton and James Leddy in maths, David Critchlow and Melissa Mee in science, Abi Hood, Alanah Dugdale, Kyla Dean and Fraser Young in performing arts, Robbie McNeil, Fraser Young and Angel Jogi in IT, and Alex Muir and Alanis Jackson in English.
Athlete Cameron Tindle was also pleased to get a place at Stirling University.
