A spokesman for Eyemouth Freezers said: “We received a delivery of equipment on behalf of a contractor and when the wagon driver got out and opened the back he found a stowaway. He quickly closed it again and we rang the police.”

It’s believed the lorry came from Belgium and came to the UK via Calais.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in the Borders attended at a business premises in Eyemouth on Wednesday, March 22, after a 33-year-old man was found in the rear of a HGV.”
