It is the latest initiative by the school to enhance its learning environment, giving pupils the best possible start to their education.

Led by Tina Bell, the Early Years Lead, governors have invested heavily in new equipment, staffing and training to ensure the school is able to offer a truly inclusive and challenging learning environment.

Funded by the National College for Teaching and Leadership, Miss Bell and her team have been working with outstanding schools across the region to achieve their aims.

She said: “To be able to work with so many successful schools has allowed us access to fabulous new resources, that has enabled us to fast-track our projects, so we can now offer a larger range of high-quality learning opportunities that enable our children to excel and flourish.

“From the writing and numeracy dens, to the role play and water investigation areas, the children have access to a forever changing and stimulating environment, designed to help nurture all their learning needs.”

The school’s next initiative is to provide free additional child care in the nursery for the next academic year. The school will offer parents of nursery children the option of two full days (Tuesday and Thursday) each week, in addition to present full morning sessions. The aim is to prepare children better for the transition into reception.

In addition, the school will also be holding a weekly pre-school session led by Berwick Sure Start on a Wednesday afternoon. For more details, please call Mrs McLeod on 01289 306170.
