For the weekend of December 9 and10, the 18th century fishing shiel on Sandstell Road will undergo a magical makeover to welcome Santa and his elves.

Bring the children and sit with Santa by the fire in his cosy grotto or come along to the festive café for some homemade soup, home baking, mulled wine and refreshments, while singing along to some Christmas music.

Last year’s event proved to be a great success and one which Spittal Improvement Trust hopes to match this year.

Once again, all funds raised will go towards the shiel restoration project.

It is planned to turn the shiel into a café and self-contained bunkhouse accommodation. Local residents Natalie Todd and Tania Arnold came up with the idea when discussing the lack of places to go, especially on cold, wet days.
