Plans to redevelop Spittal Quay have been drawn up by GMC.

The committee’s next meeting was scheduled for April 9, but has been moved to April 2 to meet the closing date for submissions on the Spittal Quay plans to Northumberland County Council.

Coun Anne Forbes said: “It’s important we have the chance to put our views in.”

GM Craig (GMC) has submitted plans for 35 homes next to the lifeboat station with views across the Tweed.

The main apartment block, known as Stone Wharf and Silos, is five-storeys high.

At the centre of the site is a block, known as Tide House. To the east is a terrace of six homes, provisionally called Tweed Row.

Coun Georgina Hill, county councillor for Berwick East, said the application would go before the planning committee but doubted it would be as early as April.
