Spirit of Sport is on show at Swan Centre
Berwick Rotary Club's annual Spirit of Sport Day for people with disabilities was a big success.
A near record number of entrants came along to the Swan Centre, not only from Berwick but further afield.
They were able to compete in 10 different sports and games while receiving assistance and encouragement from Rotarians and local volunteers, allowing some of the carers to have a little break and a chat in the café area.
Berwick Rotary Club president elect David Ross said how nice it was to see so many people smiling, laughing and having fun. He then presented all the trophies to the winners and runners-up in each sport. Medals and T-shirts were given to all competitors.
Event organiser Moira Thompson said: “Berwick Rotary is hugely grateful to all who helped: Volunteers; the local army cadet force; the Swan Centre; Tyne and Tweed/Yorkshire Building Society.”
The event was funded by a grant under the token scheme run in the local Tesco store.
