SPENDING: Not parish responsibility
Well, well, well... Berwick's generous (with other people's money) town council is at it again.
This time it has ‘committed £5,000 for a feasibility study’ to assist Virgin Trains to spend up to £20,000 on improving pedestrian connections between Berwick railway station and the town centre, (Berwick Advertiser, May 3).
Pedestrian connections between the railway station and the town centre, councillors, are the responsibility not of an impoverished little town council, but of the owners of the highway and its pavements, namely Northumberland County Council.
