Specsavers in Marygate has named the special cause as its charity partner for the year and has installed a collection point in store to kick-start fundraising efforts.

Craig Bell, store director at Specsavers in Berwick, said: “HospiceCare is close to the hearts of people across Northumberland, including ours here at Specsavers. The support it provides people with life-limiting illnesses is invaluable, but it does have to raise more than £660,000 every year to keep up its important work.

“It’s such a worthy cause and as well as installing a collection tin in store, we’ll be hosting a number of fundraising activities over the course of the year – so watch this space.”

The hospice is the main provider of free palliative care in the county.
