Spa Well flooding issue is investigated
Heavy rain caused flooding and drainage problems in the Spa Well area of Spittal last week.
There was also a small landslip on Cow Road.
Northumberland County Council said it was caused by groundwater from the nearby embankment which is saturated from lots of rainfall in recent weeks.
Officers checked drainage chambers and found them to be running freely.

It was also arranged for a mechanical sweeper to make increased visits to the area to pick up any silt.
Coun Georgina Hill, member for Berwick East, said she was pushing for an upgraded drainage system and has been given some assurance that it will be in the next capital programme. She said she would continue to press the issue.
“Every time there is reasonably heavy rainfall, there are problems around the whole Main Street area,” she said.
