Sounds of Trinidad heard at Holy Trinity
The sounds of the Caribbean drifted through the Berwick evening air for a concert by Holy Trinity First School just before their half-term holiday.
Children, staff and parents belted out their tunes on the steel pans watched by an appreciative audience.
Headteacher Dawn Groves said: “The audience were great; it means a lot for the children to work so hard and be appreciated for what they have achieved.
“We are very grateful to our sponsors Simpsons Malt who gave us a very generous grant of £2,500.”
Pupils spent hours perfecting their tunes under the watchful eye of steel pans expert Wendy Doyle.
It was a highlight of a packed week of events in a specially-erected marquee on the school playing field, including a PTA fair, story-telling, Show in the Tent (thanks to Greaves West and Ayre for providing prize money)and grandparents’ day.
“We had a brilliant week,” said Mrs Groves, who thanked the PTA for their amazing support of the school.
