Sophie Armstrong performs at the Maltings

We are so fortunate to have The Maltings Theatre in the centre of Berwick. To experience live theatre, live screenings of West End productions, the latest films, and of course high quality musical performances is an enormous privilege.

Sophie Armstrong’s evening of Christmas Jazz was a sell out. Sophie was a vocal tour de force, her Santa Baby raising the hairs on the backs of necks. She was joined by her Summerland partner, the amazing guitarist Gary Shearer, in a samba version of Jingle Bells enlisting the audience as singers and maracas players. Her special guest for the evening was Tamsin Davidson, who entranced with her renditions of Silver Bells and I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm.

The John Elliott Trio was amazing in support of Sophie and Tamsin but its performance of Henri Mancini’s Pink Panther theme tune, with its powerful double bass thread, drew loud applause.
