Site plans are abandoned

I was delighted to read that one of the key Liberal Democrat policies is '˜supporting access to education', but the party's actions suggest otherwise.

It has consistently failed to support the campaign to build a centre for the delivery of education and skills on the former Kwik Save site.

This site was identified by the former borough council, when it was run by the Lib Dems, for use for education – a plan that was a key policy in the Berwick Eastern Arc Area Action Plan.

It was bought by One NorthEast for £3million specifically for educational use, and it was an active policy of the Lib Dem controlled county council up to 2013. Now it is actively campaigning for Kwik Save to be used for offices, in a town awash with empty offices.
