Showcase for women in business
Douglas Home and Company, chartered accountants, will be holding the fourth annual Supporting Women in Business event on Tuesday, October 25, starting at 7pm at Springwood Park in Kelso.
This year’s keynote speaker will be the inspirational self-styled queen of puddings Helen Colley, of Farmhouse Fare.
Helen’s dynamic business approach has seen her challenge Tesco supremo Sir Terry Leahy to stock her puddings and also strike a £10million deal with food giant Daniels Chilled Foods.
The event is also designed to showcase local business women. Free stalls will be available for female entrepreneurs who would like the opportunity to market their products to invited guests on the night. The only cost to the stallholder is a donation of a prize to the evening’s chosen charity raffle, which this year is Border Women’s Aid.
Sheryl Macaulay, of Douglas Home & Co Ltd, organisers of the event, said: “This is the fourth year we have organised a ladies event, and each year we hope to encourage more guests to come along to this inspirational evening.”
“The event is our way to show support to the local community and it offers a great opportunity for business women to showcase their ideas. I am very much looking forward to an evening of inspiration from our guest speaker and a chance to support some local businesses by starting my Christmas shopping at the trade stands. Each stand holder is very kindly donating a raffle prize, so we hope to raise a fair amount for our chosen charity this year, the Border Women’s Aid. The night is open to all business ladies from both near and far.”
The night starts with information about Border Women’s Aid, and then Helen Colley will share her inspiring business journey. This will be followed by an evening of networking.
