Coun Anne Forbes said: “I would object to illuminated signs in the town centre.”

Coun Karin Graham added: “There are residential areas above there too.”

The conservation officer at Northumberland County Council has also raised concern about the impact on the Grade II listed building.

Nigel Chandler, on behalf of the applicant, argues there are illuminated signs at Ponden Mill and Charlie’s nightclub but the conservation officer point out these are not listed buildings.
