Seahouses pub ready for leeks showdown

Green-fingered exhibitors will be battling it out this Sunday at the annual Olde Ship Leek Club Show in Seahouses.

Leaving nothing to chance, growers will be going all out to clinch classes including the Best Leek in Show, Biggest Leek, Best Flower Arrangement and more on Sunday, September 10.

And as well as larger-than-life leeks, perfectly proportioned vegetables and blooming lovely floral displays, the show boasts scores of crème de la crème industrial entries worthy of any Great British Bake Off contestant, with not a soggy bottom to be seen. There are best cake and best scones classes and even a disaster class.

Members of the public can view the exhibits from noon onwards. And if a titanic tuber or divine dahlia catches your eye, you can snap up a bargain later at the show’s auction and raffle which takes place at The Olde Ship Inn from 8pm.
