Seahouses lights up for the festive season
Seahouses got into the festive spirit early when it became the first town in north Northumberland to switch on its Christmas lights.
Large crowds turned out despite the winter chill to see local youngster Zach Turner flick the switch with a bit of help from Santa last Thursday evening.
There was carol singing on the main street around the Christmas tree, with warming mince pies, tea and coffee served afterwards at The Pinnacles Shop.
This Saturday, it is the turn of Bamburgh for what is always an eagerly anticipated and well-attended occasion – meet at St Aidan’s Church at 5.30pm, with the Christmas lights switched on at 6.30pm.
Beadnell’s Christmas lights switch-on takes place on Saturday, December 2, at 6pm.
Meanwhile, Hospice Light Up a Life Appeal events will be taking place at the following venues: December 5, 6pm – Hazel Marsden, Berwick; December 7, 6.30pm – Seahouses Methodist Church; December 9, 6.30pm – Cheviot Centre, Wooler.
