Scouting success for Longridge

1st Longridge BP Scout Group did extremely well at a competition weekend in Wooler.

Longridge BP Scouts Beth Thomas, Sahil Singh, Reece Lyons and Mark Vernon.

The Senior patrol won the Senior Challenge Hike competition. It involved a map-reading hike around the Wooler area and at various check points doing certain Scout-based tasks ranging from first aid, code breaking and a water challenge. Pictured, from left to right, are the victorious team of Beth Thomas, Sahil Singh, Reece Lyons and Mark Vernon.

Mark Vernon then teamed up with Jordan Hedgecock from 1st Wooler and were runners up in the Senior Elder Shield competition.

The patrol of 4 Scouts were runners up in the Elder Shield competition which again involved scouting based tasks including tree recognition, lay and light a fire and then cook on it. Pictured from left to right are Roy Siu, Rowan Harris-Jones, Callum Howe and Martin Vernon

Beth and Mark were also presented with some scouting awards that they had worked very hard for over the summer. Beth got her First Class award, her Venturer badge and her Silver Duke of Edinburgh award. Mark also got his First Class award and his Scout Cord, which is the highest award available for a Scout before they become a Senior. He also got his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.
