School site is ideal place

I write regarding the debate over the use of the vacant Wooler First School site.

Councillor Rosanna Reid should not take it for granted that local residents will object to a crematorium, though some may.

My property overlooks the cemetery and school and I, like Councillor Kevan Curry, support the crematorium option.

To me the employment opportunities and the possible increased use of local hospitality facilities are important points.

At present, some North Northumberland cremations take place at Melrose, but should Scotland ever become independent this option would be more complicated, with border controls in place.

North Northumber-land should have its own crematorium and I think the old Wooler First School site is an ideal place for it.
