School meal service shortlisted for award

Staff serving up thousands of school meals to children in Northumberland have been shortlisted in the north east catering awards, North East LACA Awards Excellence 2016.

The Northumberland School meals team has been shortlisted for the Catering Management team of the year for the improvements it has made to the school meals provision.

Stamfordham First school has been shortlisted for the Primary School Catering team of the year for its high level of initiative, creativity and passion and for the extra steps is has taken to engage the children and the wider community.

Northumberland County Councillor Ian Swithenbank, cabinet member responsible for local services said: “Every day staff in our schools prepare thousands of healthy, nutritious and tasty meals for pupils across the county to tuck into. Our teams are constantly striving to improve the service for the children and young people in Northumberland and it is great that their efforts have been recognised. ”

Winners of the awards will be announced this Friday, 18th March, at Hardwick Hall Hotel in County Durham.
