Doddington Dairy has launched a new cheese to appeal to the romantic natures in food lovers everywhere. Named the Little Darling, the cheese is descended from the full-sized Darling Blue.

Named the Little Darling, the cheese is descended from the full-sized Darling Blue, that is already part of Doddington’s very successful range.

As might be expected from the name, the small round cheese is ideal for intimate suppers, cosy weekends away together or for any occasion where only two people’s appetites need be considered.

The Little Darling is made from milk from the Maxwells own dairy herd at the North Doddington Farm, near Wooler, where the cows graze on grass grown beneath the Cheviot Hills.

The Darling Blue cheese, named in memory of local hero Grace Darling, was awarded best new cheese at the 2015 British Cheese Awards.

This is a limited edition, handmade and creamy cheese with a naturally moulded rind, which is matured for between two to three months, and has been described as ‘a cheese with great character’.

With a creamy white colour and a crumbly texture, it has a distinctive flavour which is designed to round off a romantic meal.

Excited for the new launch, Jackie Maxwell said: “It really is a Little Darling and a cheese that I hope will tickle the taste buds and add some flavour to many people’s Valentine’s Day.

“Darling Blue is one of our award-winning cheeses and the Little Darling is exactly the same cheese, a much-reduced size.
