Salmon Queen ready for her crowning

The crowning of the Tweedmouth Salmon Queen, Nicole Ainslie, will be held next Thursday evening.

Nicole, who lives in Prior Park and attends Berwick Academy, will have attendants Lara Sanderson, Milly Warner, Keira Purvis and Jay Waite by her side.

It takes place at 7pm in the Queen’s Gardens, West End (under the Royal Tweed Bridge). There will also be entertainment to enjoy,

This is the 70th anniversary of the Tweedmouth Salmon Queen but the origins of the annual festival go back much further.

The committee is arranging an anniversary reunion for all previous Salmon Queens and their attendants.

Registration is still open for the floats display to be held on Sunday, July 24.

Entrants do not need to be the traditional open lorries – any vehicle or moving object is invited to join in the fun.
